Health care providers need to build apps that address patient needs.

August 24, 2016

An article by E. Wicklund points out an interesting fact: “two-thirds of the nation’s largest hospitals offer mobile apps to their patients, but only 2 percent of those patients are using them”, citing a study by Accenture Consulting.

Graphical view of America’s mental health-care system

August 21, 2016

This 2012 blog article from the Washington Post shows statistics regarding the mental health care system in the US. The article uses the numbers and graphs effectively to highlight the complex issues we are facing in this nation.

The roles of government, insurance, and money for mental health care have been addressed and discussed in public for many years. It’s an important topic, and now I’d like to see a corollary to it, especially from the perspective of consumers—individual responsibility and options, as well as guidelines to access the existing health-care services cost effectively.

Gap between consumers and doctors

August 19, 2016

This article “Can mHealth Help Doctors, Patients Speak the Same Language?” is interesting, highlighting a study by Xerox regarding perceptions of healthcare responsibilities. The author concludes that mHealth platforms could bridge the gap between consumers and doctors.

Good idea but how?
